Hall and Mendota played a baseball game over two days that went to the Red Devils, 6-1, at the MHS field. The game was started on April 11 and was halted by rain, then finished on April 12.

Trojans struggle on offense in losses to Hall, Riverdale

Hall and Mendota played a baseball game over two days that went to the Red Devils, 6-1, at the MHS field. The game was started on April 11 and was halted by rain, then finished on April 12.

Hall took a 2-0 lead in the first and Mendota scored once in the third before the game was stopped. The Red Devils pulled away with four runs in the sixth.

The Trojans collected six hits, led by Izaiah Nanez with a single and a double. Jace Baird added a pair of singles for Mendota.

Baird pitched the first three innings and allowed two hits and two earned runs to take the loss. He walked two and struck out five. Braiden Freeman went the rest of the way on the hill. He permitted three hits, four earned runs, walked three and fanned four.

Riverdale was a 9-1 winner over the Trojans on April 13 at Port Byron.

The Rams grabbed a 4-0 lead after three innings. Mendota’s lone tally came in the fourth on an RBI single by Brody Hartt.

Riverdale finished the scoring with one run in the fourth and four in the sixth frame.

Mendota outhit Riverdale, 10-7, but costly mistakes by the Trojans on the basepaths and on defense (five errors) led to their downfall.

Hartt, Baird and Freeman each had two hits for Mendota.

Justin Randolph started on the mound for the Trojans and was tagged with the loss. He gave up three hits over four innings. Only one of the five runs scored off of Randolph was earned. He walked three and struck out five. Evan McPheeters pitched the final two frames.
