Trojan sophomores win 3 straight to claim Seneca Tourney title

SENECA – Mendota’s sophomore boys’ basketball team won three straight games to capture first place in the Seneca Tournament held Nov. 25-26.

The Trojans opened with a 48-24 triumph over Newark. Alex Beetz led the scoring with 13 points, followed by Domenic Richey with 10 and Dane Doyle with eight.

Mendota rolled over Seneca, 51-27 in game two. Aden Tillman pumped in seven three-pointers on his way to a 24-point explosion. He hit five of his treys in the first period. Doyle chipped in with 11 markers.

Hall and Mendota met for the championship with the Trojans coming out on top, 40-34. Cam Kelly pumped in 15 points with four three-pointers, while Tillman also hit four treys and finished with 14 tallies.
