Caroline Correa and Cole Denison, center, win a special ride to school, May 24. The youth were winners in a coloring contest sponsored by the Mendota Lutheran Home where the residents chose the winning entries. Correa won 1st place in the kindergarten-1st grade category. She received a ride in a fire truck from assistant fire chief, Brian Fisher of the Mendota Fire Department. Aliya Eames and Karly Beetz tied for second place. Dennison won 1st place in the 2nd-4th grade category. He received a ride in a police car from officer Samantha Holland of the Mendota Police Department. Second place winner was Marcelah Jackson.
