PERU - St. Bede Academy students got to work several weeks ago and created over 200 Valentine’s Day cards for Senator Sue Rezin’s “Valentines for Seniors” card drive. After hearing about the card drive, students were determined to help uplift the spirits of long-term care facility residents.
“It means a lot for us to share our love with the community and to remind people that they are not forgotten during these tough times,” stated St. Bede Ambassadors, Alyssa Heitz and Yadi Garcia.
Every day for several weeks, members of the Ambassador Team gathered in small groups to make as many cards as possible. Faculty and staff were impressed by their dedication and compassion. “As a Catholic school, we instill within our students the importance of kindness and service,” noted Abbot Philip Davey, OSB. “When I started to see some of the cards and the words that were written, I was amazed. We are blessed to have such good students who are selfless and kind.”
