SOMONAUK - Sally Ann Smith, 79, of Somonauk, formerly of North Aurora, passed away Oct. 1, 2021 at Prairie Crossing in Shabbona.

A Celebration of Life will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 17 at Heritage Harbor, 111 Harbor View Drive, Ottawa (use east entrance).

Sally was born Aug. 10, 1942 to Gladys and Donald Jesseman, Sr.

Survivors include her husband of 29 years, Ronald L. Smith; one stepdaughter, Julie A. Smith; one niece, Kimberly Jesseman; two nephews, Scott and Craig Jesseman; and her two children.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Gladys and Donald; and one brother, Donald Jr.

Sally was a high spirited and independent woman. She received a Bachelor’s degree in Art from Illinois State University and paved the way for other women to get admitted into agriculture classes while attending. She absolutely adored animals and art. A big hobby of hers was art and she attended many county fairs, where she won many awards including top honors at the Sandwich Fair. When not drawing or playing piano, Sally was an excellent marksman, beating out men in some events.
