MENDOTA- Ricardo Sarabia, 33, of Mendota passed away Jan. 9, 2021 at University of Illinois Hospital, Chicago.
Mass of Christian Burial was held at 10:30 a.m. on Jan. 14 at Holy Cross Church with Rev. Peter Pilon officiating. Burial was at Holy Cross Cemetery. Pallbearers were Guillermo Tellez, Tyler Nyman, Moses Correa Jr., Freddy Arteaga, Jose Sarabia, Arnulfo Sarabia Jr., Ypolito Salinas and George Hernandez.
Ricardo was born Nov. 24, 1987 in Chicago to Francisco and Ernestina (Arteaga) Sarabia Sr.
Survivors include his parents of Mendota; two brothers, Francisco (Tammy) Sarabia Jr. of Peru and Ivan Sarabia of Durham, N.C.; his paternal grandfather, Ampelio Sarabia of Atolinga, Zacatecas, Mexico; and special friend, Jenny Diaz of Mendota.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, paternal grandmother and an uncle, Gabriel Arteaga.
Ricardo graduated from Mendota High School in 2006. He worked for Pizzas by Marchelloni in Peru. For many years, he was involved in the Mendota Men’s Softball League, playing with a few different teams. He also enjoyed golfing as a pastime. He was a member of Holy Cross Church, Mendota.
