OTTAWA – The LaSalle County Genealogy Guild will meet at the guild library, 115 W. Glover St. in Ottawa, on Saturday, May 20. Guest speaker, Lorraine McCallister will talk about the genealogy of Reddick Mansion.
McCallister came to Ottawa with her parents after her father was transferred to the area by Libby-Owens-Ford. Her father died in 2011, but her mother still live on Fort Street where Lorraine grew up.
She attended Shabbona School and then was in the first graduation class of Shepherd Junior High School. She graduated from Ottawa Township High School and then went on to Illinois State University where she earned her teaching credentials. Her first hob at Prophetstown-Lyndon-Tampico School District is where is ended up spending her career as an educator, mostly teaching eighth grade language arts classes.
She is a Reddick Mansion Association volunteer. She has researched the mansion’s namesake first owner, William Reddick who was a merchant, politician, and public official.
