MENDOTA – The Illinois Department of Transportation announced that the U.S. 34 BNSF railway grade crossing in Mendota will be closed starting Wednesday, Aug. 5.
U.S. 34 will be closed for approximately seven days to allow the BNSF railway to remove the spur track grade crossing, patch the void with asphalt and perform necessary highway approach work.
U.S. 34 traffic will proceed as follows:
Motorists are urged to use caution and expect some delays while traveling the detour route. Slow down and use extreme caution while driving through all work zones.
