Paw Paw Board hears waste disposal proposals

PAW PAW – Two waste-disposal companies presented their estimates for a new contract to commence April 1 during the Nov. 9 meeting of the Paw Paw Village Board. The information was taken for discussion.

Jeff Politsch, publisher of the Chicago Road Shopper, will be retiring. The Chicago Road Shopper has been published since 1960, and under Jeff since 1992. Due to modernization and internet services, production is no longer feasible. The last issue will be out Dec. 22.

There is a village burn pile at the sewer pond, south of the ballfield. Residents may drop off combustible refuse only – no furniture. Yard waste is accepted.

The village parks water supplies have been shut down for the Winter season.

A new roof is under construction for the village clinic, and asbestos removal is underway.

This winter, residents will be responsible for shoveling the sidewalks in front of their property.

Extension of the TIF district is under consideration. The current TIF district expires in 2034. Monies will be used for capital improvement to benefit the area.

TRIBE61353 will sponsor A Very Paw Paw Christmas, the Christmas tree lighting, and a visit from Santa Claus on Friday, Dec. 9 from 5-8 p.m.

The next Paw Paw Village Board meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, Dec. 14 at 7 p.m.
