PLANO – Norman E. Schlesinger, 83, of Plano, passed away on Thursday, Sept. 22, 2022 at Rush Copley Medical Center, Aurora.
A memorial funeral service will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 27, at the First Lutheran Church of Plano, 200 N. Center St. Private interment will take place at a later date in the Immanuel Lutheran Church Cemetery, Compton. Friends may visit from 9:30 a.m. until the hour of service at the First Lutheran Church of Plano.
He was born on July 23, 1939 in Welland, the son of Emil and Lucille (Bauman) Schlesinger. Norman was united in marriage on Sept. 17, 1960 to Miss Diane Hoffman and they have spent 62 years happily together.
He is survived by his wife, Diane Schlesinger of Plano; his children, Karen (Stephen) DeBolt of Plano, Linda (James) Strader of Springfield, Jeffrey (Theresa) Schlesinger of Compton and Eric (Fran) Schlesinger of Naperville; his 14 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; his brother, Mervyn (Kay) Schlesinger of Mendota; and his sister, Donna Ganz-Bauer of West Brooklyn; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Norman was preceded in death by his parents, Emil and Lucille Schlesinger, and his sisters, Lorna Friedel and Charlotte Grewell.
He was a very active member of the First Lutheran Church of Plano. He was the former owner of D & H Ag in Yorkville, and was later employed by the United States Dept. of Agriculture until his retirement. Norman was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, brother, and uncle who will be missed by his family and friends.
