MENDOTA – The Rodolfo Escatel Castañeda Memorial Hispanic Scholarship is available for Mendota High School seniors. The new scholarship is in the amount of $1,000.
The purpose of the scholarship is to support and empower a deserving high school graduate who plans to enroll full time in an accredited two-year college or four-year university for the academic school year immediately following high school graduation.
Rodolfo Escatel Castañeda was loved by many during his time here on Earth from 1945-2020. His family misses him dearly and he continues to serve as an inspiration due to his giving nature. He was an immigrant from Mexico, a spouse to Luz Elena, and a loving father to 15 children. He made many sacrifices for others throughout his life and had a beautiful character. In memory of his sincere dedication of helping others, especially those who recently came from Mexico, the family would like to continue the tradition of giving in his name.
High school senior applicants are being sought for this $1,000 scholarship who also have a big heart for helping others, whose family has faced a similar journey of immigrating to the U.S. from Mexico, and students with big dreams of making their family proud and continuing to make a positive difference in their community.
This will be an annual scholarship offered to Hispanic students in their senior year at Mendota High School. Please share this information with students who meet the criteria and encourage them to apply.
