MENDOTA - Faith Anderson, a junior at Mendota High School, has been selected to attend Illini Girls State, which is typically held at Eastern Illinois University in June. Due to COVID concerns, this year’s event will take place virtually.
The program, sponsored by the American Legion Auxiliary, is designed to teach young women to understand and appreciate their roles as United States citizens. Approximately 600 eleventh-grade girls from around the state will attend the week-long leadership seminar.
Faith, who will be sponsored by Mendota VFW Auxiliary 4079, is the daughter of Mike and Kara Anderson of Mendota.
