LA MOILLE - LaMoille native and 1996 graduate of LaMoille Community High School, Kimberly Souba, recently donated two copies of her first book, “From Death to New Life: The Transformation of a Soul” and a check from the proceeds to the Center for Prevention of Abuse in Peoria, where Kimberly received counseling services for nearly 10 years.

“From Death to New Life: The Transformation of a Soul” is a collection of poetry Souba has written since high school. The poems are arranged in a way that tells her life’s journey of healing from childhood sexual abuse and abandonment through transformation in finding hope and peace. The book’s cover design was created by Brock Sondgeroth, also a LaMoille graduate and current Mendota High School art teacher.

Souba has years of writing experience from being the student editor of her high school newspaper, a position she held for three years, and a staff writer for The Catholic Post, a Catholic newspaper for the Catholic Diocese of Peoria. A graduate of Illinois Central College in East Peoria and Valley City State University in Valley City, N.D., she currently teaches fifth grade in a small farm community. She has also volunteered for the Peterstown and Northwest Teens Encounter Christ Programs in many capacities, including writing monthly newsletters for the teens and adults who are involved in those communities. Souba also wrote a monthly newsletter for her friends, family and the Religious Sisters of Mary of the Presentation while she was in formation with the Religious Community.

Souba’s book may be purchased in the coming weeks at Lagron-Miller Company bookstore in Peoria or by visiting her website at www.ksouba.com. She is also on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter. Search “From Death to New Life: The Transformation of a Soul.” All proceeds from the sale of her book will benefit the Center for Prevention of Abuse in Peoria.

A book signing event will be scheduled in the next few months as well.
