L. Bauer takes 50th place in state bowling tournament
O’FALLON – Mendota High School bowler Landon Bauer wrapped up the season with an appearance in the IHSA Boys’ State Bowling Tournament on Jan. 27-28 at St. Clair Bowl in O’Fallon.
The MHS junior finished in 50th place overall after rolling 12 games over the two-day tournament. Bauer was sitting in 68th place after the opening day with games of 203, 213, 244, 201, 168 and 175. He moved up in the standings after his performance on the second day with games of 234, 266, 181, 176, 189 and 180. Bauer’s two-day pin total was 2,430.
The individual state champion was Charlie Hunter of Salem with a 12-game series of 2,763.
Hunter’s effort helped his Salem squad to the team title with a score of 12,706. Other schools finishing in the top five were O’Fallon (12,517), Mascoutah (12,509), Machesney Park Harlem (12,406) and New Lenox Lincoln Way West (12,405).
