OTTAWA - Gary Donnell McConville, 66, of Ottawa passed away Feb. 17, 2020 at OSF St. Anthony Medical Center in Rockford.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 22 at St. Francis of Assisi in Ottawa with Rev. David Kipfer officiating. Burial will be at St. Columba Cemetery, Ottawa. Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. on Feb. 22 at the Ottawa Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be Kristopher Gerkitz, Chad McConville, Donald McConville, Landon Larkin, Jonah Applebee, and Phillip McDonald; honorary pallbearers will be Emma Gerkitz and Lauren Applebee.
Gary was born Sept. 12, 1953 in Ottawa to Donnell and Bernice (O’Rourke) McConville. He married Carol Williams on April 13, 1996 in Las Vegas, Nev.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Kara McConville and Heather Gerkitz; one son, Dennis Applebee; five grandchildren, Kris and Emma Gerkitz, Jonah, Isaac and Lauren Applebee; three brothers, Ed (Loretta) McConville, Steve (Judie) McConville, and RE Larkin; five nephews, Ryan, Matt, Donald, and Chad McConville and Landon Larkin.
He was preceded in death by his father, Donnell McConville, and his mother and stepfather, Bernice and Bob Larkin.
Gary previously worked at 1st National Bank and Ottawa National Bank and later was a sales rep for MTC Motorcycles and JB Supplies. He retired as a salesman/rep. He loved to play golf, refereed basketball and loved watching all sports. He was a fan of the Cubs and Bears and loved watching his nephews, grandsons and granddaughters play sports. He was a member of Ottawa Moose Lodge 960 and the Knights of Columbus.
