Fundraiser for former Earlville/Paw Paw area man scheduled Dec. 10 in Amboy


AMBOY – Johnny’s Journey, a fund-raising event for John Marks, will be held on Saturday, Dec. 10 from 4-8 p.m. at Amboy Community Center, 280 W. Wasson Road, Amboy. Dinner will be served from 5:30-6:30 p.m. The cost is $20 per person.

Marks was born and raised in the Paw Paw/Earlville area and how lives in Rock Falls with his wife, Tennille, and sons Braxten, 16, and Brody, 12. He also has a daughter, Alex, 27, and a new son-in-law, Alex.

Marks was diagnosed with stage IV neuroendocrine carcinoid cancer in December 2021, Because of his hormone treatment, he is now a diabetic. He will be having surgery to remove a portion of his colon and will have a permanent colostomy.

He has exhausted his sick days and continues to work when he can. The cancer is treatable, but not curable. He will continue the therapy he receives now and will soon start chemotherapy that will continue the rest of his life.

The fund-raiser will include a bake sale, 50/50 raffle, silent auction, live auction and cash bar. T-shirts are also available and can be ordered through kaleels.com.

All money raised will help the family with medical bills and expenses.
