EARLVILLE - Don W. Sawicki, 72, of Earlville passed away April 13, 2017 at his home in Earlville, surrounded by his loving family.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, April 18 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Earlville with Rev. Tammy Anderson officiating. Burial will be at a later date. Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. on Monday, April 17 at the Hanley-Turner-Eighner Funeral Home in Earlville.
Don was born Dec. 10, 1944 in Ottawa to Al and Jean (Elzer) Sawicki. He married Betty Durbin on March 30, 1967 at Zion Lutheran Church in Ottawa.
Survivors include his wife of Earlville; one daughter, Kristen Ambler of Earlville; three grandchildren, Bradon, Madolyn and Kamdyn Ambler; his mother, Jean Sawicki of Ottawa; two sisters, Cheryl (David) Hill of Denver, Colo. and Dianne (Mike) Lacke of Fredericksburg, Texas; a brother-in-law, George (Pat) Durbin of Earlville; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father and one grandson, L. Dalton Ambler.
Don graduated from St. John’s College in Winfield, Kan. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Earlville, where he taught adult Sunday school class and was an active member of the choir for over 30 years. He enjoyed singing with his friends and hosted many karaoke parties at his home. He sang in the Earlville Community Choir for several years. He was employed as a manufacturer’s representative for Librizzi and Associates.
