MENDOTA - Dixie Kay (Gordon) Summers, 76, of Mendota passed away unexpectedly Dec. 4, 2019 at her home.

Visitation will be from 1-3 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 8 at the Merritt Funeral Home, Mendota. A memorial service will follow the visitation. Burial will be private.

Dixie was born Nov. 27, 1943 in Mendota to Clarence and Verna (Lindenmeyer) Gordon.

Survivors include her mother, Verna Gordon of Mendota; two children, Monica Edwards of Peru and Dena (Wayne) Wenger of Winnebago; two stepsons, Dale (Vicky) Summers of Plainfield and Chad Summers of Joliet; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one brother, Ronald (Jane) Gordon of DeKalb; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father, Clarence Gordon and one brother, Dennis Gordon.

Dixie worked at Black Bros. for 25 years as an engineering secretary. After retirement, she worked at Pohl’s Office Supply and Dr. Ernesto Villalobos’s dental office. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Mendota. She enjoyed attending her grandchildren’s sporting events, spending time with her great-grandchildren, and cheering on her favorite Chicago sports teams.
