MENDOTA – The annual summer upgrade of certain city streets should take place sometime in August after the Mendota City Council acted on several measures at its July 7 regular meeting.
During Alderman Paul Norris's report, the council approved a motor fuel tax street maintenance resolution of approximately $350,000 to begin the process of summer street repairs. City engineer Ed King noted that a verbal agreement was made with the Illinois Department of Transportation to go ahead with the program. King added that bids will be let for motor fuel tax and non-motor fuel tax street repairs on Friday, Aug. 1, and the work should begin soon thereafter.
King also indicated that the Plaza Drive street repair program is moving forward and he indicated that the work would likely be finished before the end of summer.
In action from Alderman Del Knowlton's report, the council approved a petition for rezoning part of 1315 Memorial Drive (old MCH property). The matter will now go before the Plan Commission at a meeting on Thursday, July 24 at 6:30 p.m. The Plan Commission will discuss a plat of subdivision and rezoning the property.
