MENDOTA – The Mendota Trojan trackmen ran up against some stiff competition and finished fourth in the team standings of the Mendota Co-Ed Invitational on May 2 at the MHS Athletic Complex.
LaSalle-Peru dominated the action and took first-place honors with 170. Byron occupied the second spot with 136.5 points, followed by Princeton with 122 and Mendota with 111.5. Rounding out the standings were St. Bede (48), Hall (46), Streator (28) and Morris (18).
The Trojans had four first-place finishes, with Wyatt Martinson claiming the 100-meter dash in 11.52 and the 200-meter dash in 23.41.
Mendota also captured both sprint relays. The 4x100-meter squad of Jared Fritz, Abram Green, Mikan Biers and Martinson had a time of 45.14, while the 4x200-meter foursome of Bryce Otterbach, Biers, Fritz and Martinson was clocked in 1:36.44.
