MENDOTA - Edward J. Stasik, 72, of Mendota died March 28, 2014 at RML Specialty Hospital, Hinsdale.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, April 2 at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, Dalzell with Rev. Pat Fixsen officiating. Military honors will be conducted by the U.S. Army. Cremation rites will be accorded after the services. Visitation is from 9-11 a.m. on April 2 at the church. Helmer-Shields Funeral Home, Granville assisted the family with arrangements.
Pallbearers will be Allen Stasik, Timothy Justus II, Kayla Key, and Mary Kay, Nathaniel, Naomi and Gwendolyn Herbert.
Ed was born May 6, 1941 in Furfenstein, Germany to Stanley and Helen (Tarka) Stasik. He married Nancy Nave on Sept. 2, 1965 in Zweibruken, Germany.
Survivors include his wife of Mendota; two daughters, Laura K. (Mike Droster) Justus of Prairie Du Sac, Wis. and Mary H. Key of Schaumburg; five grandchildren, Kayla Key, Mary Kay Herbert, Timothy II, Elizabeth and Michael Justus; three great-grandchildren, Nathaniel, Naomi and Gwendolyn Herbert; special nephews, Allen Stasik and Robert Stasik; several additional nieces and nephews; one brother, Theodore (Sarah) Stasik of Peru; two sisters, Sophie Bell of Peru and Donna (Lyle) Manahan of Tonica; and two dear friends, Alan Goodrick and Jerry Miers.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and one sister.
Ed served in the U.S. Army in Vietnam from 1963-1969. He was a computer tech engineer (ce). He was an avid deer hunter and bowler at Pla-Mor Lanes in La Salle, having bowled two 300 games.
