LaSALLE – Quick starts have been the theme for the Mendota Lady Trojans early in the basketball season and it held true again when the team took on LaSalle-Peru. The Lady Trojans sprinted out to a double-digit lead in the first quarter and cruised to a 42-24 win over the Lady Cavs on Nov. 25 at LaSalle.
Mendota (4-1) grabbed control from the opening tip as it scored 16 first-quarter points and held L-P to just a pair of free throws. The Lady Trojans continued to pull away in the second frame and took a 26-8 lead to the locker room. The count was 40-12 after three.
Ally Bromenschenkel was Mendota’s lone double figure scorer with 17 points. Amy Devitt added seven points, while Brooke Carroll and Abby Bromenschenkel chipped in with six points apiece.
L-P gained a split on the night as its sophomore team downed Mendota, 49-19.
