MENDOTA – The public will have a second chance to voice their opinion regarding the Rock Island Clean Line (RICL) high-voltage transmission line project on Monday, Oct. 28. If constructed, the line would cut through some of the state’s most productive farmland including LaSalle and Bureau counties. Following the overwhelming response at last month’s forum, a second event has been scheduled by the Illinois Commerce Commission (ICC) to hear comments on the project.
The second forum will take place at the Mendota High School gym. Individuals may sign up to speak that evening beginning at 6 p.m. Comments will be heard in the order people sign in, so it is suggested those wishing to speak arrive as early as possible to get in line. The forum will start promptly at 7 p.m. The gym has a much larger seating capacity than the auditorium, which was completely filled last month, so plenty of room should be available.
