The Mendota Trojan golfers had an easy time in disposing of North Boone and Rockford Christian in a triangular meet on Sept. 25 at the Mendota Golf Course. Mendota fired a 162 to win by a wide margin over second-place Rockford Christian (180) and North Boone (205).
Two Trojans – Cody Phalen and Jaron Robinson – shared meet medalist honors with scores of 38. The rest of the Mendota team consisted of Mark Prescott (42), Riley Schuhler (44), Nathanael DeLong (46) and Krueger Keene (47).
Mendota was the only school to field teams for junior varsity and freshman-sophomore action.

Mendota had the top-scoring pair as it hosted the Modified Ryder Cup event on Sept. 28 at the Mendota Golf Course.
The Trojan tandem of Phalen and Robinson kept up their outstanding play with a 74 to claim the top spot in the pairs standings. Duos from Rock Falls and Princeton were one shot back.
Also cracking the top 10 were the MHS pair of Prescott and Keene in seventh place with a 79. DeLong and Schuhler formed Mendota’s other pair and finished with a 97.
Rock Falls was alone at the top of the team standings with a 231, followed by Ottawa (240), Princeton (242) and Mendota (250). Rounding out the field were Kewanee (251), St. Bede (256), Hall (258), LaSalle-Peru (258), Putnam County (287), Bureau Valley (293), Hinckley-Big Rock (309) and Stillman Valley (322).

The Trojans wrapped up a successful dual season with an easy victory at Stillman Valley, 161-217, on Sept. 30. MHS finished with a 16-4 overall record and a 10-3 conference mark.
Phalen led the way for the Trojans with a 39, with Prescott close on his heels at 40. Robinson and Saylor turned in 41s, while Keene (46) and Schuhler (56) rounded out the team.
