MENDOTA – Earlier in the month the Mendota Police Department welcomed new officers to its force. Now those officers will be getting new vehicles to help with their jobs after the Mendota City Council approved the purchase at its Sept. 16 regular council meeting.
Three new squad cars will be put into the fleet at the department at a total cost of $104,000. Those units will be replacing vehicles that all have well over 100,000 miles on them.
In other news from the Aldermanic Reports, Alderman Walt Weiland wanted to alert citizens that the city water department personnel will be doing their routine flushing of fire hydrants beginning Tuesday, Oct. 1 and continuing for approximately two weeks. Flushing will take place between 6:30 a.m. and 3 p.m. After flushing in your area, the water may contain a rust color, so residents should continue running their faucets until the water clears.
