COMPTON Illinois State Police District 1 Sterling is issuing a community alert after two attempted child abductions in Compton.

In late June and again on Aug. 22, the occupants of a white Volvo station wagon attempted to lure children into the vehicle in the area of the park in Compton. The occupants of the vehicle are offering rides to the children and when the rides are refused the occupants then order the children into the car.

The suspect vehicle is described as a white Volvo station wagon, possible late 1990s or early 2000s model with tinted windows and a 12-24 inch scratch/dent on the passenger side door area. The vehicle did have a front registration plate (state unknown) with only a small amount of alpha/numeric characters on it.

The sex or race of the driver is unknown, however, the passenger is described as a white male in his early 20s with dark colored hair cut short.

Anyone with information on these incidents is urged to call Illinois State Police, District 1, at (815) 632-4010, ext. 220.
