LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Dean L. Cotton, 75, of Lafayette, Ind., died July 20, 2013 at St. Elizabeth Central Emergency Room.

Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, July 25 at St. Lawrence Catholic Church, Lafayette, Ind. with Father Daniel Gartland officiating. Burial will be at St. Mary Cemetery, Lafayette. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, July 24 at the Soller-Baker Lafayette Chapel, 400 Twyckenham Blvd., Layfayette, Ind. with the rosary at 4:45 p.m.

Mr. Cotton was born Dec. 24, 1937 in Mendota to Lloyd and Irene (Klein) Cotton. He married Lorena B. Galletti on Dec. 27, 1958 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Naplate.

Survivors include his wife; three children, Brian D. Cotton of Clawson, Mich., Nancy (Will Strong) Naville-Strong of Lafayette, Ind. and Daniel A. (Magdalena) Cotton of Mendota; eight grandchildren, Lisa Naville, Brian Louis Cotton, Joe Naville, Emily Cotton, Kim Cotton, Kristi Strong, Brad Strong and Samantha Strong; two brothers, Bob Cotton and his identical twin, Dale Cotton; and five sisters, Norma (Richard) Wright, Carol (Jack) Sheridan, Donna Barbier, Janis Ryan and Mary (Dwight) Stone.

Mr. Cotton graduated from Mendota High School and received his mechanical engineering degree from Bradley University. He was a professional engineer in the states of Illinois and Indiana before retiring in 1999 from Lafayette Caterpillar. During his retirement years, he enjoyed writing a family documentary book, “Oneness,” which told a personal story of the Cherry Coal Mine Disaster. He currently owned and operated with his family Primo’s Supper Club in Mendota. Dean and Lorena shared a committed and loving marriage and would have celebrated 55 years together this December.
