MENDOTA – Mendota High School senior Austin O’Sadnick has signed a letter of intent to play football at St. Ambrose University in Davenport, Iowa. O’Sadnick also plans on playing basketball for the Fighting Bees.

On the football field, the St. Ambrose coaching staff has the 6-7, 280-pounder targeted to play on the offensive line.

“We like his footwork for a bigger kid, and he’s physical and tough, which is something we need,” said assistant coach Jeremy Mercer. “We lost an All-American last year and we’re hoping Austin can step in and fill some shoes on the offensive line.”

St. Ambrose, an NAIA (National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics) school, is a member of the Midstates Football Association-Midwest Division. Last season, the Fighting Bees posted a 9-2 record and qualified for the NAIA Football Championship Series, where they were beaten by Southern Oregon in the first round.

He is the son of Todd and Stacy O’Sadnick of Mendota.
