LOSTANT - Thomas C. Grothen, 52, of Lostant died Feb. 23, 2013 at Heritage Health, Peru.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 27 at Zion Lutheran Church of Clarion with Rev. Kevin Weeks officiating. Burial will be at Clarion Lutheran Cemetery, Clarion Township. Visitation was 4-7 p.m. on Feb. 26 at the Merritt Funeral Home, Mendota.
Mr. Grothen was born Feb. 20, 1961 in Mendota to Clarence and Carolyn (Reppin) Grothen.
Survivors include two daughters, Emilie Grothen of Spring Valley and Erica Grothen of Peru; one granddaughter; his mother, Carolyn Grothen Hetrick of Lostant; one brother, Hank (Christine) Grothen of Mendota; and two sisters, Brenda (David) OíDonnell of Ottawa and Julie (Mark) Schmidt of Mendota.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Mr. Grothen graduated from Mendota High School and was employed as a chef at Bull Headís in Lostant, a restaurant owned by his mother. He also drove a school bus for the Lostant school system, was employed by Hope Township in the maintenance department and helped William Jaegle in his farming operation. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church of Clarion Township.
Memorials may be directed to the Illinois Veterans Home in La Salle or St. Margaretís Hospice.
