Mendota couldn't match the firepower of Byron and fell to the Lady Tigers, 62-49, in Big Northern Conference action on Jan. 8 at Byron.

The game was tight after the opening stanza, with Byron up by a 15-12 count, but the home team widened the gap in the second period and led 34-22 at the break.

Amy Devitt, who paced the Lady Trojans with 18 points, scored all 10 of Mendota's tallies in the second quarter.

The two teams played an even second half, but the damage was already done by Byron in the second period.

Besides Devitt, Ally Bromenschenkel (13) and Karly Near (12) also hit double digits in scoring. Near scored all of her points from three-point range.
