The Mendota Trojan wrestlers encountered some rough sledding as it competed against three other teams in a meet at Plano on Nov. 28.
MHS was beaten by Plainfield South, 78-6, with Trevor Todd pinning his opponent in the 285-pound division for the Trojans' only win.
Mooseheart scored a 66-18 triumph over Mendota. Claiming pin victories for the Trojans were T.J. Christmann at 132, Jake Spanier at 170 and Todd at 220.
Mendota suffered an 81-0 loss to Plano.

Todd was Mendota's lone representative at the Seneca Irish Invite on Dec. 1 and he finished third in the 285-pound class.
After getting pinned by the eventual champion from Clifton Central in his opening match, Todd came back to pin opponents from Herscher in 47 seconds and Beardstown in 20 seconds. Todd was injured in the Beardstown match, but still wrestled his next two matches where he beat his foe from Illiana Christian, 15-7, and then pinned his Manteno opponent in 39 seconds to take third place.

Mendota's freshmen competed in the Princeton Blackmark Tournament on Dec. 1. Jake Spanier finished first at 170 pounds, while T.J. Christmann (132) and David Birdsell (160) both took third-place honors.

The Trojan varsity team traveled to Princeton for a dual on Dec. 3 and the Tigers managed a 47-33 victory.
Gaining wins for Mendota were Toby Reutner by a 12-4 count at 106, Christmann by pin at 132, Spanier by technical fall at 170 and Todd by pin at 285. MHS also got forfeit victories from Jaron Robinson and Birdsell.
