ANKENY, Iowa - Cheryl Marie (Brown) Hintzsche, 72, of Ankeny, Iowa died Nov. 19, 2012.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Nov. 24 at the Ankeny Funeral Home with burial at the Elkhart Cemetery. Visitation was from 5 to 7 p.m. on Nov. 23 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Hintzsche was born in Mendota on June 4, 1940 to Edward and Ruth (Rogers) Brown. She married John Hintzsche on June 20, 1962.

Survivors include her husband; four children, Susan (Steve) Flack of Cedar Falls, Iowa, Diane Hintzsche of Elkhart, Iowa, Carolyn Fisher of Washington, Iowa, and Joe Hintzsche of Des Moines, Iowa; eight grandchildren, Ari, Maggie, Audrey, Aidan, Gabe, Owen, Chloe and Lilli; two brothers, David (Mary Lynne) Brown and Kevin (JoAnn) Brown; and one sister, Laurel (Bruce) Clement.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Roger; and one sister, Connie.

Mrs. Hintzsche grew up in Mendota and attended Knox College in Galesburg, where she met her husband. She was an active member of the Ankeny Women’s Club for more than 30 years. She also held the positions of 5th District Director and Headquarters Secretary for the Iowa Federation of Women’s Clubs. She enjoyed cross-stitching, quilting, many other sewing crafts, and always had a new project to show off. Her friends at the Ankeny and Ames Quilting Clubs were very dear to her. Mostly she loved her family and they held a special place in her heart.
