MENDOTA - The Mendota Lady Trojans used a second-half surge to cruise past LaSalle-Peru, 61-32, in varsity girls' basketball action on Nov. 19 at the MHS gym.
The contest was close in the first half with Mendota maintaining narrow leads of 13-8 after one quarter and 24-21 at the half. But the Lady Trojans caught fire in the third period by outscoring the Lady Cavs, 21-5, to take control. Abby Bromenschenkel sparked the third-quarter uprising with nine points.
Abby Bromenschenkel totaled 18 points for the game to pace Mendota. Also hitting double figures were Ally Bromenschenkel and Amy Devitt with 14 points apiece, and Brooke Carroll with 11.
LaSalle-Peru was a 47-18 winner in the sophomore game.
