MENDOTA - Approximately 260 guests attended the 8th annual Abigail Women’s Clinic banquet on Sept. 13 at Celebrations 150 in Utica. They gathered to be encouraged that they can “Overcome Together” as they have in the past.
Speaker Patricia Bainbridge talked about the effectiveness of pregnancy resource clinics in encouraging individuals in stressful pregnancy situations.
Joyce Fassig, director, spoke on the blessings that have occurred at the clinic in the past year. Remodeling has been done to provide more room, which along with the increase in client advocates, has been a great help in progressing with the Earn While You Learn program. Fassig also told of updating the ultrasound machine and the mobile unit generator improvement.
Fassig announced that starting in January 2013, Betty Pappas will serve as director of the clinic. Pappas, currently director of nurses at the Illinois Veterans Home in LaSalle, has worked for the Illinois Department of Public Health as a surveyor of all types of nursing facilities.
Fassig will continue taking out the mobile unit, performing ultrasounds, counseling women and helping out as needed.
Abigail Women’s Clinic is a not-for-profit 501C(3) non-denominational Christian ministry that serves individuals in stressful pregnancy situations. It was established in 1997 at 728 Main St. Mendota where it is still located.
