LA SALLE - Julius “Jules” Turczyn, 95, of La Salle died April 18, 2013 at his residence.
Funeral mass was held at 11 a.m. on April 22 at St. Hyacinth Church with Rev. Paul Carlson officiating. Burial was at St. Vincent Cemetery, LaSalle. Visitation was from 9-11 a.m. on April 22 at the church preceded by a rosary at 8:20 a.m. Burgess Funeral Home, LaSalle handled the arrangements.
Mr. Turczyn was born April 8, 1918 to Ignatz and Sophie (Ryba) Turczyn. He married Dorothy Repsel on Dec. 17, 1943 at St. Valentine Church, Peru.
Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Chere (William) Motter of Mendota, Jule Ann (Thomas) Glynn of La Salle and Amy (Michael) Lafferty of La Salle; five grandchildren, Jeff (Tracy Parsons) Motter, Chris (Jenn Horton) Motter, Jason (Sarah Wujek) Motter, Scott Glynn and Samantha Lafferty; six great-grandchildren, Abby, Ben, Aaron, Tanner, Tia and Jayda; and three sisters, Sister M. Clarine, Therese Sienkiewicz of La Salle and Clara Wachowiak of La Salle.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, three sisters and one grandson, Aaron Lafferty.
Mr. Turczyn was an operating engineer for Local 150 for many years. He was an avid sausage maker, lifelong White Sox fan and an avid fisherman and mushroom hunter.
