Ralph W. Ringenberg, 86, of Amboy died March 5, 2010 at Mendota Community Hospital.
Funeral services will be held at 11:15 a.m. on Wednesday, March 10 at the Mihm-Jones Funeral Home in Amboy with Rev. Frank Brozenec officiating. Burial will be at Prairie Repose Cemetery in Amboy with military graveside rites by the Amboy American Legion. Visitation was from 5-8 p.m. on March 9 at the funeral home.
Mr. Ringenberg was born Dec. 9, 1923 in Amboy to Henry and Grace (Eller) Ringenberg. He married Ruby Conway on Nov. 18, 1967 in Amboy. She preceded him in death on Feb. 2, 2008.
Survivors include one daughter, Dean Ann (Frank) Lachat of Amboy; two grandsons, Frank D. (Keri) Lachat and Wayne A. (Priscilla) Lachat, both of Amboy; seven great grandchildren, Elayne Heidi Lachat, Jessica Renee Lachat, Candise Sue Lachat, Tyler Joseph Lachat, Kelsie Jean Lachat, Rachel Ann Lachat, and Courtney Maureen Lachat; one step-great grandson, Zachary Krummel; one brother, Elmer Ringenberg of California; and two sisters, Ethel Vickrey of Mendota and Ruth Reinhold of Amboy.
He was preceded in death by his wife; his parents; three brothers, Robert, Ernest, and Raymond Ringenberg; and four sisters, Grace Kalebaugh, Lillian Haley, and Nellie and Rena Ringenberg.
Mr. Ringenberg served with the U.S. Army during World War II. He was an ironworker for over 30 years prior to his retirement. He was a member of the Dixon VFW Post 540 and Iron Workers Local 498.
