Mendota suffered a 5-2 setback to Byron in a Big Northern Conference varsity baseball game on April 16 at Byron.
All nine of Mendota’s hits were singles. Jaron Robinson collected three hits and drove in a run, while Evan Schultz delivered two safeties. Riley Schuhler also had an RBI.
Garet Zinke went the distance for the Trojans. He allowed eight hits, three earned runs, walked four and struck out one.

The Trojans split two games in the Putnam County Legends Wooden Bat Tournament held on April 20 in Spring Valley.
Mendota started the day by getting no-hit by Sherrard in a 9-0 loss. Nathan Fay turned in the gem for the Tigers as he struck out six and walked one.
Aaron Olsen started on the hill for Mendota and he allowed three hits and seven runs (two earned) in two innings. He struck out one and walked three. Matt Dornink also pitched two innings, giving up two hits and two runs (zero earned). He walked a pair.
In game two, the Trojans earned a 3-2 victory over Hall.
Mendota scored two runs in the top of the first and added another in the fifth, while Hall only managed single tallies in the fourth and fifth frames against winning pitcher Trae Blumhorst.
Blumhorst gave up just three hits, one earned run, walked two and struck out nine in the route-going performance.
Mendota (3-8) collected seven hits, led by Schuhler with two doubles and two runs batted in. Blumhorst picked up a pair of singles, while Garet Zinke doubled.
