A quick glance at the schedule for the week of Jan. 7-12 indicated it could to be a tough one for the Mendota Trojans. And as is turned out, it was. The Trojans lost three straight games by double-digit margins to three quality opponents.
The Trojans hosted Rockford Christian in a nonconference game on Jan. 8 and lost by a 62-42 count.
Trae Blumhorst's 13 points led Mendota, while Jon Gehm had nine points and Evan Carroll eight. Austin O'Sadnick paced the club with six rebounds, Evan Carroll handed out four assists, and Blumhorst and Mark Prescott each had three steals.

Mendota hung tough against a quality Rockford Lutheran team but still dropped a 74-64 decision in Big Northern Conference play on Jan. 11 at Rockford.
Four Trojans hit double figures in scoring, led by Gehm with 21 on seven three-pointers. James Carroll was next with 14 points, followed by Blumhorst (13) and Evan Carroll (10). Blumhorst hauled down a team-high 14 rebounds, while Evan Carroll dished out nine assists. Gehm and James Carroll each had three steals.

The Trojans (13-6, 2-3) came back from a slow start but faltered in the second half as Rock Falls posted a 78-62 victory over Mendota in a BNC game on Jan. 12 at Rock Falls.
Blumhorst poured in 19 points to lead the offense, followed by Evan Carroll with 14 and James Carroll and O'Sadnick with 10 each. Gehm added nine tallies. O'Sadnick led the rebounding column with 13, while Evan Carroll had six assists and four steals.
