PLANO - Mendota's number four seed in the Plano Christmas Classic was its best in recent memory. However, the Trojans were knocked off by a tough Aurora Christian club, 94-83, in their opening game on Dec. 26.

Aurora Christian led by as many as eight points in the first half, but Mendota managed to get within two at halftime, 42-40.

The third quarter was the difference in the game as the Eagles slowly pulled away thanks to Trojan turnovers and lackluster play on the defensive end of the floor.

All five of Mendota's starters reached double figures in scoring, led by Blumhorst's 25 points. James Carroll and Evan Carroll followed with 15 points apiece, while Jon Gehm had 12 and O'Sadnick 11. Blumhorst also led with seven rebounds and Evan Carroll handed out five assists.
