Mendota harriers earned a pair of second-place team finishes in a triangular cross country meet held at Streator's Twin Creeks Golf Course.
In the 3-mile girls' race, Sidney Kitzman of Dixon placed first with a time of 20:17, followed by Mendota's Emily Ross in 20:23. Teammate Bethany Wohrley placed fifth in 20:58, while Madison Myers' time of 23:02 was good for 12th. Jenny Rodriguez (17th, 23:56) and Amber Preston (19th, 24:07) completed Mendota's team.
Mendota's tally was 51 points, behind Dixon's 21 and ahead of Streator's 62.
In the boys' race, Ethan Sack picked up his second win of the week for the Trojans, covering the course in 16:30. Streator's Michael Novak was second across the line in 16:49, while Dixon's Kylian Lally was third at 16:59. Lukas Brandner (8th, 18:44) and Adam Morris (9th, 18:45) were Mendota's next finishes. Additional finishes for the Trojans were Hayden Smith (11th, 19:03), Michael Happ (14th, 19:35), Westley Phillips (19th, 20:10), Chase Bodmer (20th, 20:35) and Sean Bogle (22nd, 21:16).
Dixon won the race with 25 points, followed by Mendota (43) and Streator (58).

Top Class 1A programs in the state were present at the 40th running of the Amboy Columbus Day Invitational on Oct. 8 at Shady Oaks Golf Course in Amboy.
Competing for Mendota were Ross in 86th place (20:35), Myers in 125th (21:45), Wohrley in 141st (22:07), Gillian Brown in 48th (22:19) and Rodriguez in 200th (24:52).
Running the race for the Trojans were Sack in 54th place (16:39), Happ 201st (19:26), Smith 205th (19:35), Adam Morris 207th (19:37), Phillips 224th (20:11) and Bogle 242nd (21:56).
In the JV race, Mendota's Lukas Brandner covered the 2.4-mile course in 15:10, placing 47th.
