MENDOTA Ė The Mendota City Council handled several items of business at its July 1 regular meeting.
Under Alderman Justin Setchellís business, the council approved a liquor license addition for Beck Oil, which has acquired the properties of Gromann Service Company, including Lakeview Food Shop and Gromannís I-39 Plaza. The transaction was effective June 27. Beck Oil owns numerous gas stations/convenience stores throughout Illinois and is headquartered in Princeton.
In action from Alderman Randy Morrisís report, the council accepted the bid from Koolmaster Co. of LaSalle in the amount of $20,201 for door and window replacement at 800 Washington St. and 700 Illinois Ave.
During Alderman Bill Huntís report, the council agreed to make its annual donation of $5,610 to the Mendota Area Chamber of Commerce to help finance portable toilets and brochures for the Sweet Corn Festival.
Alderman Del Knowlton commended city workers for their quick and efficient clean-up of debris following a thunderstorm at the end of June.
