More living options will be available to area senior citizens after the Mendota City Council gave approval to the final plat of a new housing development at its Oct. 18 regular meeting.
Upon the recommendation of the Mendota Planning Commission, which met on Oct. 14, the city council gave the go-ahead to the Stough Group to construct its Mendota Senior Housing Subdivision. The development will be located at the corner of U.S. 34 and Plaza Drive.
"We look forward to starting construction in April," said Jason Racine of the Stough Group.
The Stough Group hopes to build a similar senior housing development in Oglesby.
