Billie Mezo

Billie G. Mezo, 74, of Lee Center died June 7, 2009 at his home.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, June 10 at the Mihm-Jones Funeral Home in Amboy with Rev. Derek Cairel officiating. Burial will be at the Woodside Cemetery in Lee Center with military honors by the Amboy American Legion. Visitation is from 4-8 p.m. on Tuesday, June 9 and from 10 to 11 a.m. on June 10 at the funeral home.

Mr. Mezo was born May 2, 1935 in Macedonia to Logan and Lela G. (Bain) Mezo. He married Lois Fisher on Feb. 28, 1953 in McLeansboro.

Survivors include his wife; three children, Sharon (Harold) Noles of West Brooklyn, James (Tammy) Mezo of Lee Center and Terri (Chris) Dean of Macedonia; six grandchildren, Lisa Noles, Amy Mezo, James Mezo Jr., Whitney Mezo, Cambri Dean and Caden Dean; five great grandchildren; two sisters, Shelia (Kenneth) Summers of Akin and Idalia (Dave) London of Little Rock, Ark.; three brothers, Robert (Mary) Mezo of Wayne City, Charles (Bev) Mezo of Polo and Terry (Rita) Story of Akin; and several nieces and nephews including special nephew, Brad Jacobs of Sterling.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Gerald Mezo.

Mr. Mezo was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during the Korean War. He had been employed at Dixon Publishing Co. in Dixon for over 30 years and also had owned several businesses and worked at Don Mullery Ford in Dixon.

A memorial has been established to KSB Hospice.
